Lizzie Domwe

Lizzie was born in Rusape in 1948, one of nine children. She went to school through 6th grade, stopping when her father said, “You are a girl, so you stop there.” She moved to Weya after her marriage in 1970. She and her husband have seven children, born between 1971 and 1987.
Lizzie and her husband farm together, growing maize, groundnuts and roundnuts. She began to do art in 2000 because “art is easier than agriculture. When I do agriculture some of the parts of my body will be aching.” Some of her favorite topics for art include farming, ancient and modern live, and Shona folk tales.
