Florence Makoni
Florence was born in Tanda in 1985, the second of five children. She finished 10th grade but didn’t continue because she wasn’t well. She worked as a cook at the Miekles Hotel in Harare for 2 years before marrying Tatenda Mapuranga, son of Weya artist Albertina Nyamagoronga, in 2005. She has one child, Simeon, who was born in November 2005.
Florence began doing art in 2005, taught by her mother-in-law. “I want to look after my baby because Tatenda is not yet working.” Favorite topics include traveling by foot, feeding chickens, and Shona celebrations.
